There is no other way work of artistic worth can be done. And the occasional success, to the striver, is worth everything. The most regretful people on earth are those who felt the call to creative work, who felt their own creative power restive and uprising, and gave it neither power nor time.
The busy-ness. The never ending to-do list. The anxiousness. The thousand racing thoughts....this self-inflicted chaos, IS WHAT IS preventing you from being able to access your most creative, loving, contented self.
Cultivating a harmonious and peaceful, compassionate and loving inner world is easier than you think.
It made no sense at first. I am shy. My voice felt shaky and small. I didn't believe I had anything useful to say. I didn't yet trust my ability to listen and hold space for the kinds of conversations I felt creativity itself was asking me to facilitate.
But I listened, I kept going, I trusted, I allowed myself to be vulnerable and kept showing up.
This show, what I'm trying to do here, is create something that truly helps people.
I get more and more messages every week from people all over the world saying really profound things to me about how listening to this show, has, stemmed off depression, has stopped them from feeling like they're in physical pain caused by not feeling free to express themselves. That listening to these conversations has helped them find the bravery again, to go inwards and make things and create things and explore this beautiful part of themselves that they had thought was just closed off to them.
2 time Juno Award Winning Canadian Singer/Songwriter Dan Mangan joins me to talk about the roles of vulnerability, honesty, determination and grit in bringing our art into the world.
