Self-care during times of contraction: 5 ways to take care of yourself during the "wobbles"

5 ways to take care of yourself during the "wobbles"

It's natural to experience ups and downs in life, especially when it comes to personal, emotional, and spiritual growth. After a heart-opening experience, it's common to feel a sense of contraction, exhaustion, and even wobbliness. During these times, it's important to take care of yourself and provide self-care. I wanted to share with you some of the things I do to take care of myself when I feel the wobbles coming on.

Write

One of the most effective ways to take care of yourself during the contraction is to write to yourself. When you're feeling connected, write about the experience of what it feels like to see things from that place. It's during this time that wise thoughts tend to come out, and you'll be surprised at how powerful your words can be. Looking back at these writings can also remind you of the importance of self-care and help you during future times of contraction.

Practice Self-Compassion

When you're in a period of contraction, it's important to be kind to yourself. Practice self-compassion by acknowledging your struggles, accepting them, and offering yourself kindness and understanding. Recognize that this is a natural part of your growth process, and that it's okay to take a step back and take care of yourself. Treat yourself as you would a friend who is going through a difficult time, with love and understanding.

Connect with Nature

Connecting with nature is a great way to help yourself during times of contraction. Spend some time outside, go for a walk, or sit in a park. Breathe in the fresh air and soak in the natural surroundings. Nature has a way of helping us feel grounded, centered, and connected to something bigger than ourselves. It's also a great way to shift your focus away from your struggles and into the present moment.

Do Something Creative

Engaging in creative activities is another great way to take care of yourself during the contraction. Whether it's painting, writing, singing, or dancing, creative activities can help you get in touch with your inner self and express your emotions. It's also a great way to tap into your inner wisdom and find solutions to your struggles. Creativity is a powerful tool that can help you feel better, even during difficult times.

Reach Out to a Friend

During times of contraction, it's easy to feel isolated and alone. That's why it's important to reach out to a friend or family member for support. Talk to someone you trust and share your struggles. Let them know how you're feeling and ask for their support. Sometimes just talking to someone who understands can make all the difference.

Remember that periods of contraction are a natural part of the growth process.  Go slow. Be kind and patient with yourself. And remember it is not going to be this way forever.
