There are only a handful beaches in the world where orcas go to frolic and rub their bellies on smooth ocean pebbles. Two of them are nestled in the sparkling waters of British Columbia's central coastal region.
These pendants are actual pebbles from one of those beaches, hand collected by artist Kate Shepherd, who has lovingly transformed them into these magical, wearable talismans for you.
This Pebblebelly Pendant features rare Flowerstone (also known as Chrysanthemum Stone or Snowflake Stone), a gabbro porphyry of feldspar crystals typically in basalt, displaying a unique flower pattern. When the crystals are well-formed, they bloom like petals, reflecting the natural beauty of British Columbia. Flowerstone is only found in parts of Vancouver Island and Japan, with limited availability due to a moratorium on mining at Texada Island. Its appearance varies from clusters of white flowers on black, to gray backgrounds with fewer flowers, sometimes resembling rice, snowflakes, or writing.

The Pebblebelly Story
There are only a handful of beaches in the world where one can witness majestic orcas as they frolic and gently rub their bellies against smooth ocean pebbles. And two of these magical spots are near to my home in the sparkling waters of British Columbia's central coastal region.
These pendants hold a palpable piece of that wonder. I craft each necklace with an actual pebble collected from one of these extraordinary beaches. I have infused these with love and transformed these natural treasures into wearable talismans, carrying the spirit of the ocean.
These Pebblebelly Pendants are highly sought after and often have a waitlist. They tend to disappear quickly once released, making them an exceptional gift or a delightful treat for yourself.
