Pebblebelly Necklace
There are only a handful of beaches in the world where orcas come to frolic and rub their bellies on smooth ocean pebbles, and two of these rare places are nestled in the pristine waters of British Columbia's central coast. This Pebblebelly necklace features an actual pebble from one of these extraordinary beaches, lovingly hand-collected by artist Kate Shepherd.
Each smooth, dark stone is most likely basalt, a volcanic rock formed from cooled lava. Rich in iron and magnesium, basalt is known for its deep color and fine-grained texture, giving each pendant a unique, natural beauty. The stone’s formation, combined with its connection to the orcas' sacred coastal habitat, makes every Pebblebelly piece truly special.
This particular pendant is cradled in a delicately smooth setting, reminiscent of the still ocean waters at morning. This subtle texture seamlessly enhances the stone’s smoothness, reflecting the organic forces that shaped it. The design evokes a sense of the ocean’s quiet power, making this necklace both a beautiful accessory and a meaningful keepsake.

The Pebblebelly Story
There are only a handful of beaches in the world where one can witness majestic orcas as they frolic and gently rub their bellies against smooth ocean pebbles. And two of these magical spots are near to my home in the sparkling waters of British Columbia's central coastal region.
These pendants hold a palpable piece of that wonder. I craft each necklace with an actual pebble collected from one of these extraordinary beaches. I have infused these with love and transformed these natural treasures into wearable talismans, carrying the spirit of the ocean.
These Pebblebelly Pendants are highly sought after and often have a waitlist. They tend to disappear quickly once released, making them an exceptional gift or a delightful treat for yourself.
