This piece has an incredible story. I found the pebble on the beach and knew right away it was meant to become a Pebblebelly. But there was a big white crack running down the middle, and for a moment, I almost put it back but the stone whispered to me that it needed to be made into a Pebblebelly and find its person. So, I brought it home. Part of my process with these pieces is exposing them to high heat in my kiln, and something amazing happened—under the pressure and heat, that big white crack healed itself.
I feel like this Pebblebelly is meant for someone who has also faced great pressure and fire in their life—someone who needs this piece as a reminder that they, too, can transform and heal through the intensity of life’s trials.
The Sentinels are a special series of Pebblebellies made with some of the rarest stones I’ve ever found. These pebbles stand out because they’re either unusually thin and flat, incredibly smooth, or made of something really unique, like the elusive and hard to find flower stone. This Pebblebelly necklace features an actual pebble from one of these extraordinary beaches, lovingly hand-collected by me!
Each smooth, dark stone is most likely basalt, a volcanic rock formed from cooled lava.
