Shifting from Stagnation to Inner Peace

Most mornings, my ex-husband calls me on his way to work. It’s become this tender ritual of sorts—I think part of the reason for these calls is that he doesn’t like being alone. Even when we were married, he never liked it, and I think it’s sweet that he still reaches out just to hear a familiar voice as he starts his day. We check in about the kids, talk about what's happening in the world, and share little moments that somehow set the tone for the day ahead.

Yesterday’s conversation took an interesting turn. He started expressing some worry—he's not usually a worrier—about the upcoming U.S. election. He was concerned about what might happen if the "wrong" person wins, fearing it could lead to more war or chaos. It’s a sentiment many of us can relate to right now, feeling overwhelmed by the weight of everything happening in the world.

I’m not someone who follows politics closely. It has always felt like a battleground, the worst parts of us fighting in the public arena. But as I listened to him, I could feel the heaviness of his concerns. The anxious energy in the conversation was palpable, and I recognized it as something we all get pulled into—especially in moments when the world feels out of control.

But then, something deeper came through me, and I want to share it with you because it felt so important at that moment.

While the world churns around us, the most important thing we can do is remember that real, lasting change comes from within. Yes, voting matters. Yes, participating in our communities matters. But on a deeper, more profound level, the most transformative work any of us can do is to shift the energy inside ourselves.

Right now, it feels like we're stuck, caught in stagnant energy—between good and bad, right and wrong. And while the external world keeps trying to offer solutions—be it the "right" political leader or the "right" invention to save the planet—none of these things can fix what’s truly ailing us.

It’s not about rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. It’s about creating a massive energetic shift, one that starts from within. We are invited, every day, to vote with our energy—through the choices we make in those small, quiet moments that no one else sees.

What does your inner dialogue sound like when you’re by yourself? Are you kind to yourself, or do you beat yourself up? Are you gentle when you reflect on where you are in life, or are you harsh and unforgiving?

True change—real, lasting transformation—begins when we stop the inner war. When we cultivate peace and kindness within ourselves, we shift the energy that ripples out into the world. The external world, for all its chaos, is just a reflection of what’s happening inside each of us. Until we heal that, we’ll continue to see turmoil outside.

We need to reconnect with our inner genius, our highest self, and heal what’s been wounded. Only then can we move through life with the kind of grace that allows us to truly listen—to hear the trees sing, to feel the wisdom of the rocks beneath our feet. That’s where the shift happens. That’s where the magic begins.
